About Mike

I’m a software engineer working as a consultant in St. Louis, Missouri.

My employer is SBS Creatix, and my current client is the Smithsonian Institution (via a contract with the Missouri Botanical Garden).  I am the primary developer for the Biodiversity Heritage Library.  In addition to this work, I take occasional side jobs to gain exposure to new technologies.

Past clients for which I’ve worked include Brown Shoe Company, Maritz Travel Company, Anheuser-Busch, Charter Communications, St. Louis Blues Hockey Club, Worchester IceCats Hockey Club, General Life Insurance, and many others.

My technology focus has been in web development and database development, primarily using Microsoft technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server.  I also have dabbled in non-Microsoft (typically open-source, sometimes Linux-based) technologies such as Python, Node.js, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, and RabbitMQ.   You can find more information about my professional background on my LinkedIn profile.

Outside of work, I spend my time at home in Kirkwood, Missouri with my wife and two children.
